As far as your SYE kit question, you are going to have to wait to see if you develope any vibrations. I will say going up 4", you probably will need at least a transfer case drop kit. You also will most likley need to replace your LCA's due to the fact of if you dont, they will be at such steep angle from lift, you wont have much articulation. Good Luck!!

I am not too knowlagable in lift kits, but if you are having real trouble and not alot of people are posting you can always search previous posts and see what other people said in the past, cause i am sure you are not the only one that has asked this.

there are hundreds of threads on this and they are all different, do the lift, drive it, and do what you have to do. i would personally do a transfer case drop. they are cheap, you can make one or buy one. then see how she handles and check angles and see what ya need. THEN UPDATE US on your findings. oh and take pics

are you using v8 grand cherokee coils?

at 4" you are borderline for needing a sye on an xj. If its going to be wheeled much i would do it since you will be gaining alot of strength over the slip yoke. I've seen too many of the factory slips break on the trail.

Take some pics while building the control arms, I know I wouldn't mind checking that out.
