I have a 96 XJ 4.0, with the cheap instrument panel....no gauges just warning lights. I found EDGE Products sells a display that is supposed to plug into the OBD connector, will give a digital read out of coolant temp, RPM, etc... Their website shows they only go back to 97, but when you pull up the actuall product it says it goes back to 96. Anyone familiar with these? Using one currently? Don't want to dump the money to find out it doesn't work and they won't take it back.
