Default Eating caps

About 2000 miles ago,i replaced my distributor cap rotor and coil. The center electrode in the cap was gone,no pieces, no arcing tracks, nothing. The jeep has developed a miss,so just for ****s and giggles I checked the cap,i found this.Anybody know why my jeep is hungry for these things?

Pull your spark plugs and measure their gaps. Very large gaps can cause high resistance in the spark plug secondary ignition circuit (cables, cap, and rotor), and will eat the cap terminal inserts, center insert, and rotor tab.

Additionally, a mismatch between the cap and rotor manufacturers can cause problems like this.

Gap should be .035".

What spark plugs do you have installed now. What brand cap and rotor did you install.

By the looks of that Gray cap I would suggest you **** can that brand get a quality cap and rotor match, like Echlin brand from NAPA.

Make sure that the new cap has the brass inserts and not the aluminum ones. It'll last longer and work better.
