Default E brake issues

So I have been having this problem for about a year. My E Brake will not work at all on hills I get under and adjust the linkage until it works again then in a couple weeks too a month its right back to not working again.
What am I missing? are the cables bad? Is there something wrong with my drums? Has anyone else had this problem?
I am getting tired of blocking my tires whenever I park on a hill, Or forgetting to do it and finding my jeep has rolled down my driveway into the middle of the street.
Obviously Its a 5speed and yes I leave it in gear.
thanks

new shoes and drums, then adjust your e-brake cable.

at least new shoes. you might get away with your drums, but for the extra 100 bux, just go for it. it will work like new.

Shoes and drums then replace both cables however drums are fairly spendy so go with the shoes first. However iif your not haven any trouble stoppin in the rear when using the brakes then id prolly pickup just a cable both sides try replacing them first. While in there messing with the shoes its also good to replace the springs etc id just buy all new hardware mine came in a kit fairly cheap i dont recall if it came with the self adjusters or not but id replace those 2.

Check the rear brake shoes, drums, and hardware, replace as needed, from there MAKE SURE the self adjusting mechanisms are working (yes for the actual shoe to drum contact). If the drums will not stay adjusted, neither will your e-brake.
