E brake adjust?
ok. when i first got my jeep the e brake wouldnt go up but to half way and didnt hold the old girl still. SO like a dumbass i just decided to jerk it up one good time and what do you know, now (months later) after i found out that jerking my e brake all the way up was no way to fix my problem, ive decided that bein my jeep is 5 speed i would like to have an E brake. SO how do i adjust my e brake or do whatever i need to do to get my E brake to work again? and i would also like to adjust it so it fully engages about half way up so i can put the cup holder in that i have.
OH and BTW, my E brake DOES work, it just doesnt work well, like it will keep my jeep from rolling, but if i get out and push it with a little force it will move...that and i can take off and not really notice its pulled up

sounds like you need new rear brakes and possibly drums. then your e-brake should work like it did before.
but for an adjustment, you have to climb underneath and adjust it by the nut on the adjuster rod.

Follow the cable off the drum towards the front of the xj, in the middle the two cables off the drum connect onto one the adjuster screw unit is right there

my e-brake quit working for a while. i adjusted it and it still didn't work. the lever would stop half way, but wouldn't hold the jeep on flat ground.
once i changed out my brakes it worked a little bit, but still wouldn't hold it tight until i put new drums on. then it would hold it on a steep hill.
i actually did the brakes on my tj today, but drums are on order. e-brake works on a slight hill now, but still not very good.
the adjuster is a threaded rod with a nut and a bracket with both drum cables coming out in a Y just above the drive shaft. you might want to use some pb blaster on the nut if it hasn't been turned in a while.
