It's a stainless steel tip welded to the tail pipe. Installed mine 2 weeks ago and the sound has settled in to a nice rumble, slightly louder than stock but not annoying by any means. This was a nice upgrade and couldn't beat the price....

put mine on last august and i actually did gain 1-2 mpg, but i also replaced my worn out factory cat with a magnaflow. things were awesome till my manifold cracked. once i put my new apn manifold on this weekend, i'm hoping i get that back. the exhaust is pretty tough, i took a rear end shot from a kid this fall in a little kia. it was enough to bend my bumper and dent my back hatch...he did scuff my stainless tip though
on the downside, they were offereing the rebate last year and i sent in everthing with the copy of the reciept from summit and never got mine. probably a fluke since most of the other guys i talked to got theirs.

Yeah one has a chrome tip and a attachment in the box for a newer cat. The older exhaust has a 2.5 inch inlet instead of 2.25. If I can save $40 and not have a stainless tip I'd rather do that.
Edit: i found the answers i needed. the newer one has the flange in the box for the newer xj's. the pipe on the older one is bigger, the bends are the same, the hanger is the same except for the rear one. i guess the older cherokee's use a clamp on hanger type while the newer ones use a piece of metal rod welded to the pipe that slides through a rubber block type mount bolted to the frame. i don't know what i'll do there but i'm sure i can fab something up cheap.
i ended up getting the exhaust from streetsideauto for $93 shipped using a $10 off code "quick10".

I know this thread is a little old but I ordered my Dynomax exhaust about 2 weeks ago and had my friend install it for me.
The system sounds great and I love it. I paid 160 after shipping from Summit Racing and then sent in my 75 dollar mail in rebate.
I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I would recommend it to anyone looking to replace the factory exhaust.

Put this on my 93 last week. Didnt get the tipped one....wish I had, had to modify the pipe a little to get it right. Love the sound, but then I've had Dynomax on just about everything I drive(being as I work at NAPA and get a good discount)

I ended up fitting the older exhaust to my 97 and it fit right up...just had to half *** Fab up a rear mount. The older exhaust is cheaper, has bigger pipe and I think the tip looks better compared to the stainless one.

so bummed i payed like 150 for mine -____-
but i like it, i have the dyno max cat back on my 2000 and i got the flange adapter, its a joke that they dont supply nuts for the flange though, obviously the other ones are going to be rusted on and have to be broken off. it was almost impossible finding the nuts that fit and i had to get extremely lucky finding the nut size on a random review from amazon.com. i think its like a metric 10.5 or something like that. besides the nuts it was pretty easy to install, i just cut off that old stuff and bolted up the new, if you use the clamps make sure to re tighten them after a few days. im pretty satisfied with the results, loud enough for a little difference but not nearly as loud as most. small gains on acceleration but little or no change in mpg.

Can any of you guys that have this exhaust post some pictures? I would like to get one for my '91 but not sure whether I would want the one with the stainless tip or the standard one.
