Default Drumming sound

I am at the end of my Jeep rope. Yes, I have searched the forums and tried everything that I found to no avail.

There is a whirring, vibrating noise that comes from ( I think) my rear end when I slow to a stop. It is worse when I put it in neutral. It is a fast drumming like if you drum your fingers nervously. It sounds like it is at the rate of the rotation of the drive shaft, not a wheel. I have replaced the lube in the rear end; no bad bearings or gears, no shavings. I have replaced the brakes. I have checked and greased the univ joints, rear bearings; nada. The sound does not get better when I apply the brakes but goes away completely when I give it gas OR go over a slight bump; like a speed bump.

any ideas?

My first thought is loose exhaust...

I will ponder on it though.
