Agreed. I've never once turned a set of new rotors or drums. If they needed it, I would return them.

Although I don't think that is the OP's issue anyhow. If his adjusting screw is all the way in, and the drum is still not fitting correctly it either has a be the wrong drum (possibly from a different car since he's already confirmed he has the smaller 9" drum; the local yocals at my parts supplier have been known to give parts for the wrong car), or something is installed incorrectly.

If he can post some pics, possibly someone can ID the problem a little easier.

I just verified it's not a problem with a single drum. I tried swapping sides and they both with fit on the LR but neither will still fit on the RR. They are the same part numbers.

I tried to bleed some of the fluid out of the brake wheel cylinder but that didn't help.

I loosened the e-brake cable until there was a decent amount of play and that didn't help.

Here are some pictures:

It's hard to tell, but have you shortened the parking brake adjuster all the way? I don't mean the cable, but the actual adjuster with the star wheel at the bottom of the brakes. It looks like it might not be.

I'm stumped. I just did the identical 9" on my 90, looks to me like you have it right. Possibly a shoe that is too thick slipped through quality control?

Mine came with about new shoes, but a blown wheel cylinder. I measured one of the old, and came up with a "chubby" 5/16. I suppose in your shoes, (Ha Ha), I might try comparing the right and left, see if maybe they sold you something that isn't quite right...

The parking brake link when installed correctly should have the slightest amount of front to back play.
Not my pic:

There is very little movement of the strut.

That should be good then, the spring is there to keep it from rattling. Are you sure the parking brake cables are free to move and not seized up?

Neat catch..if the tops are actually seated on the pin though.....But a thought. A flaw in the curve there where the top of the shoe fits on the pin. A burr or something standing proud from when it waz punched. Besides the bracket, I might make double sure the shoe is really fitting on the pin like it should.

Guess there is not a worn slot on the backing plate the shoe can bind on.

Here in post 8, Mentalbreakdown mentions getting shoes that were too thick. (new to me btw) > https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/dru...-check-204183/

I saw that pic, but I couldn't remember which end is the threaded end, and I couldn't see the other end of it--just wanted to make sure.

You sure those aren't 10" brake shoes?
