Default driver side window

Hey guys I have a 1998 jeep Cherokee and today I pulled up at home rolled my window up, worked fine. I come back out to my jeep go to roll the window down and it makes a bad grinding noise. The window will move if you grab it and push it up and down, I don't know if its the actual window motor or if its off the track. It's dark in sc and lucky me i don't have a flashlight to see what I'm doing. Has anybody else had this problem? Thanks in advance guys. Evan

I believe on yours their are plastic gears that get stripped. I have a similar problem and when it was recently at a body shop my buddy owns he said he's seen this quite a bit and in time I'll need to replace those gears. Mine is a 2000 xj so pretty sure that's it.

Same problem here with my 90 XJ, window regulator. Sounds like you know what you are doing. I didn't at the time and posted a YouTube video to give some insite for future reference;
