Driveline vibration from a lift?
Is there any way lifting my jeep 3" would possibly cause a drive line vibration due to the different angle of the drive shaft?
Also, what is the best rear leaf pack 3" kit that will still give added support for a lot of tongue weight while towing?

it sure can give you vibes. not sure on leaf packs, any 3" pack that is gonna be heavier duty for towing is gonna be one crappy ride though. kidney buster.

Driveshaft vibration/slip-yoke vibration IS directly caused by lift.
Here's a very good write-up about it. It should answer any questions.

OP seems familiar. I know them from somewhere. I just can't put my finger on where.

Brakes are a big issue when towing and the fact that you have NO frame is another but you also need to consider how light the XJ really is. Towing anything you can't tow with a Prius is over the XJs capacity IMO.

Just so you know the jeep cherokee's max tow limit after 96 is 3000 lbs...That's with a factory hitch.Something to think about when towing and if you value your frame...Also a major factor would be what gears you run as well.

Doh I have to edit my post..I read 3000 lbs but just read my book and it states I can tow up a flat trailer max weight of 5781lbs and that's combining the weight of the jeep and trailer in 4x2, in 4x4 it is 6060lbs and that's with a class 1 hitch.. Gross trailer weight is 2000 lbs, tongue weight is 300 lbs..
Now then class 3 hitch pulling the full box style trailers in 4x2 max combined weight of jeep and trailer is 8781ls, in 4x4 max is 9060 lbs. Gross trailer weight max is 5000 lbs and tongue weight is 750 lbs.
It also states that's with an auto trany, cooler and heavy duty cooling system. That straight from teh 91 owners manual.

ya that's too much weight. my manual says basically the same. but i wouldn't even go near what they're saying, did any of those upgrades come from the factory for towing?
I have been towing with my 5spd jeep for a long time now with no frame/drivetrain problems. From loaded landscaping trailers, to enclosed snowmobile trailers, to tow dolly's with cars, to car trailers with small cars.
My manual, as well as other various sources have stated that my 1995 XJ has a max towing capacity of 5000lbs.
Obviously I dont like towing more than my jeep weighs but it is the same issue when I had a 5800lb p/u and was towing 8000 pound + loads.
Any load I have towed has not, in any way pushed the limits of my jeep's drivetrain and/or safe drive ability.
Although the xj is an older style unibody and may not be as advanced, people pull a ****load of weight with their unibody Honda ridgelines or any other unibody pickup or suv.
obviously manufacturers wouldn't make unibody cars if their structure wasn't nearly as strong as a frame chassis.
I have a good farmer mechanical genius friend who has a 3.2l cummins turbo diesel in his 86 Comanche and has pulled massive loads grater than the 4.0 could ever handle with no frame issues what so ever.
