Default driveline slip

I'm having an issue, I believe is somewhere in the drivetrain, where it feels like something is slipping while driving. It only seems to happen while I'm driving at a steady speed. Its a 1999 cherokee sport with a 4.0 engine, np231 transfer case and chrysler 8.25 rear diff. Any ideas of what could be going on? Thanks!

Explain what you're feeling with every detail such as RPM and vehicle speed, etc.

Doesn't seem to matter what the rpm is but never has happened over 3500. Has also happened in every gear. It feels the same as if you were using a manual transmission and you slipped the clutch really quick

I know what you mean I had the same problem. Feels like it drops into neutral for an instant and then goes back into gear. I did an oil change on the tranny and it fixed the issue. It used to happen more often when it was warm outside.

If you decide to change the oil, make sure you put mopar tanny oil and not the other garbage they sell in stores.
