Default Drip trough molding removal

I have a 96 XJ Country with body color painted drip troughs. I may need to remove them to get to some rust at the very back end of the trough at the lift gate. How can I remove them without damaging them? I know that Jeep increased the amount of glue they used to hold them on towards the latter production days. As a back up I do have a bare metal set just incase I booger up the originals. I want to avoid that if I can.

Yes, I've seen the video. The early rail are easy to remove. It's the later ones that are attached with more glue that might be difficult to remove without damaging them.
