(Doors) is 2dr compatible with 4dr?

(Doors) is 2dr compatible with 4dr?
I am in need a new drivers side door for my 1996 2 door XJ sport. I can't find any xj's in the local junk yard. I have found a front door on ebay off a 4dr model that looks correct, but it only mentions compatibility with other 4dr models. Will a front door from a 4dr model fit on a 2dr model? Or must I keep dragging through ebay and other junk/scrap piles for a 2 door?

Sorry to say doors are not interchangeable between 4 doors and 2 doors but I believe can be interchanged between any years that had a 2 door
