Has anyone successfully removed the plastic door trim.... and then reapplied it?

I am fixin to replace the door bottom (skins)
bought replacement pieces.

the weld seam will be directly under the plastic trim.....

so it needs to be removed... hopefully I can slice it off/clean it up and use some 3m? or heavy duty adhesive to reapply....

any thoughts? thanks.

 

I had a piece fall off... not on purpose. I just used a few dabs of JB weld. Its held up through two Michigan winters so far.

 

I use 3m double sided tape to put door moldings back on every day at work. You can find it at just about any auto supply store such as Napa
