Default Door switch question

I've searched and searched but couldn't find my answer. I've decided to go doorless and of course the door switch thinks the doors are always open and will keep the dome light on at all times. I've removed the plunger type door switch in both driver and passenger side and it turns the dome light off but, It still drains and kills the battery. Tape is not strong enough to hold the plunger down and I don't believe I can get the sensor apart to remove the spring or whatever it is in there so it is easier to compress. Are there any options besides pulling the fuse?

Strange, I've had mine unplugged for years and it's never drained my battery... It's no different than when the doors are closed.

You can swap in TJ switches and buy those little caps that screw on.

Yea, I've been doing reading and everyone was just pulling the plunger and I did too and my battery was dead after work. Put the sensor back on and now now drain. I'm not the greatest with electrical but, after I pull the plunger and the metal connection is all that's left, is it possible it could drain the battery if its touching the body of the Jeep?
