Default Door lock problem

1998 4 door xj. So I just replaced the window regulator and didn't know that I could unclip the door lock and opening rods from the panel so (being dumb) continued to install the regulator with the panel hanging on the rods. Well I figured out that I can take the rods off but that was too late. After I finished, the door would no longer lock- I physically can't push the lock button in on the door. I tried to bend the rod and fix it but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Will do. I can't work on it again until Tuesday, so hopefully I can find some more info on it by then.

How about:

Other than that just finesse the lock linkage a little bit at a time till it loosens up. Then do the same for the latch linkage.

I haven't gotten a chance to look yet either, was thinking about looking at the rear locks to compare, seems silly to suggest but just happen to think about it

K fixed it. So the rod has to be the exact length from the switch on the door panel to the mechanism in the door. If the rod has too many bends in it then its too short and the switch on the panel can't move and if its too long with no bends in it then the switch has no room to switch. You just have to bend it to the perfect length.

Yeah man it doesn't have very much to do with the angle that the rod is bent at or anything, just how long it is
