problem with driver door 92 2 door cherokee(car with son in Illinois and Iam in Ohio). manual locks also. the driver door handle stays in open position when opened. it does not go back into the door. Can anyone give me an idea of what the problem could be . I'm guessing that some kind of spring mechanism is broken??????

 

Mine does the same thing...but only sometimes. Sorry no answer. Is your son still able to open the door? If so I would agree the spring in the inner door handle assembly is broken. Looks like it would be pretty easy to replace, you should be able to get the spring from a dealer. Part # 5500-2184

 

he is still able to open the door. I will order the part and look at it at christmas. thanks for the info.
