Both my rear doors at the same time seem to stop working. I can push the external door button all the way in and it doesn't even click. Is there any easy way to fix this?

get the whole locking mechanism out and clean it thoroughly.
mine started doing the same and at some point I couldn't unlock them. not the end of the world if you don't often use the doors (my case) so i bought a used replacement for one of the doors so i can at least access to rear seats and I plan on cleaning the other in order to avoid buying another one on ebay. all the ones at my local junkyard had the same issue.
once they're clean, use a generous amount of grease/lube to make sure it doesn't happen again

Thanks for all the info. Good to know. Guess I am asking how the eff do I actually get the back doors open now since the buttons don't work and I can't just pull them open. Do I need to get inside and try kicking them open?

you have a 2000 so I'm not sure about how to remove the interior, but that was the tricky part for me on my 96 (older body style, the first little tree clips holding the interior panel were a pain to remove). once the inside of the door is removed and you have access to the rods / the actual locking mechanism inside the door, it's a matter of playing around with them, pulling and pushing and at some point it will break free. lube/grease will definitely help.
once you can open the door remove the 3 screws holding it in and there you have it.
