Default Door ajar wiring

Do anyone know if all the doors have a short wiring harness? I was only able to get a look at the driver front door and I see it's a short harness with a connector under the door/floor molding. Reason I ask....is my door behind the driver does not have a door ajar switch...it has a little black rubber plug....an I was hoping I could just add the switch....since the other back door has one....strange huh? And if the harness is there...Great! If not....I hope it's like the front switch.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.....I love this site!

why do you want to add the switch so bad? just for the lights to come on when you open that door? just curious...but if it is plugged it probably doesnt already have the wiring behind it, i think it would just be a waste of money to install one.

Never a waste of time/money to make your XJ "the way you want it".

Pull the interior trim off the passenger's side pillar and take note to where the door jam switch wiring goes. Mostlikely it goes UP. Also take note to the color of the wire. This will help when it comes time to search for the location of the driver's side wiring.

I do think it a little ODD that the passenger's side has a door jam switch and not the driver's side.
Perhaps there was a problem with the switch and the DAPO removed it and just plugged the hole.

Hey, you never know, maybe the wiring is in there, hiding inside a wad of electrical tape.

Maybe you should pull the driver's side trim FIRST and look.

I need the light....especially with kids and car seats. My wife use to drive a 2008 Ford Expedition...and it had auto headlights...so she could just walk away and they turned off automatically. Now she is having to train herself to make sure they are off since my driver side door ajar switch is not working (and giving her the "ding chime" or any light....and the door behind that one does not have one (door ajar switch).

I love to improve and keep up my trucks...and the upgrading and mods...are just how I like to spend my time...as long as they look factory.

I hope to get into it this weekend....and by the way I have the full service record for this jeep since it was new to 108,000 miles...and it has had a few wiring problems with the light switch and some wiring in the driver door problems....but that seems to be all I see in the logs....

Emailed OKCjeeper and got some info on jeep parts and salvage yards around my area...so off to seek adventures!
