think ima have to put a new engine in ma xj.if i get a later model engine will i be able to use the same tranney as the 89?or am i gonna have to get another one?for that year?

i put a 2002 wj 4.0 in my 89. most people will tell you it won't fit, but it does. you only have to drill and tap 16 holes in the block. used the 89 manifolds and everything. started right up and i get almost 25 mpg on the highway. i was told the ports on the head are different, but when i held the 89 manifold gasket up to it, it all looked good. not ideal, but good.
