Standard IAC replacement with about 500 miles on it. Removed it to clean the throttle body and it is extended out. Does it look normal? I know you're not supposed to push them so I figured I'd just ask.
I know their job is to move in and out it just looks weird to me. Thanks.
I never seen one with a gap like that, but i dont use Standard parts. Another Standard IAC on Rockauto doesnt even have a tube between the tip and motor. Its just a spring, so that gap with yours is probably just how its made.
The plunger extends to close off the idle port when you shut off the engine. It opens a certain amount during the cranking cycle, so yes, it should be extended. However, that one looks poorly designed since the shaft is exposed and every Mopar one I've seen the shaft is covered all the way out. The cover extends down into the recess around that bearing.
