Do I need my electric cooling fan?

I recently noticed that my electric cooling fan isn't working. Do I really need to worry about fixing this? The engine is not overheating.

Just remember, Our cooling systems are not the greatest. All it will take one thing to act up and then you would be wanting your elect fan to work.

I definitely think it needs to be there to keep the cooling system in check.

What I mean is, I don't overheat or have cooling issues. My entire system sans heater core, a couple hoses and the rad is brand new last year. BUT my temp still climbs when I come off the highway and have to sit at a stop. The aux fan comes on, cools it down. Then all is good.
