Hello.

I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport with 200,700 miles. It is completely stock and it is my daily driver. I love this car. Other than the window being replaced and the idiot put the rubber upside down and it getting hit in a parking lot, it has been a great car. I believe my shift fork to go to 4wd is either bent or broken but that is another story.

The check engine light came on a little while ago and it says it is a P1494 - DLP Leak Detection Pump.

Is this a relative easy fix, or is there something else I should also be looking at. I appreciate it. I work on aircooled VWs and older cars so I am sure you guys are more experts on this than I am.

I think this is a system to check the gas tank / vent system for integrity - it pumps some air pressure into the gas tank, and makes sure it doesn't bleed off too fast.
Check your gas cap first, then the hoses and stuff for the evap cannister.

 

I already put a new gas cap on it and it still came up. I guess the hoses are next, but they all looked good.
