Distributor Ate My Cam Position Sensor
1993 Cherokee 317K. 4.0 2wd. Automatic. I have owed for 7 years and the Jeep has never failed me. I am giving the Jeep to my daughter in a few months, and have been throwing all new parts on where ever I can but will only list the parts which could contribute to resolution.tune up BUT didnt secure the rubber grommet which holds the wires for the Cam sensor as they go into the distributor. The Jeep ran better than ever for a week.. then suddenly all hell broke lose.. spitting, sputter, backfires.. upon closer inspect, the Cam (Pick up Coil) sensor wires got caught in the rotation of the distributor and were in & broke the sensor into pieces . I had just upgraded plugs, wires, cap, rotor and ignition coil.
After spending several hours trying to replace the sensor in the old distributor. I bought a re-manuf distributor (no new were in stock). I have re-set timing, by trying tdc of both one tooth ahead and also TD at 0ish but I am not getting it to crank.. nothing . Please help!
