a1racer I have a nice drill press so I'm eager to redrill!

bsljacques I looked in my 1987-1989 Chilton's and it says I need a puller for my axles. The nice thing about my manual is I usually don't need to figure out if the repair pertains to my year!
Very nice...well...let us know what you decide to do and if you can post up some pics .....that always puts the icing on the cake with mods!

I'm mechanically minded enough to usually do the job right, but that includes a ton of research!!! When you mentioned clips I was thinking I had to remove the rear end cover and remove something in there. From looking and my Chilton's just now and finding I need to use a puller on mine I think all removal and clips are at the wheel brake end. Upon reassembly, I think the differential cover will need to be removed to be sure the axles mesh with the rear end gear.

C-clips I am talking about you have to remove the cover. The axles on my Jeep are held in by c-clips on the inside of the spider gears. Most axles today use that kind of technology. The pressed axles like you have you need a puller. Each type have there pros and cons.
