Hey guys just purchased my cherokee a little while ago. It's not much (yet) but its mine and i love it. It is my first car and i worked hard for it i'm sure everyone knows what thats like. I am on the "18 year-old college budget" so the upgrades will come slowly, but surely
. Anyways the guy i bought the jeep from suggested i change the diff fluid soon. What would be the best oil to use? It is the laredo and has the stock rear locker...Posi Trac?? I think...?? I don't know if that matters or not. Thanks in advance!

SAE 75w or SAE 80w-90 GL5 gear lubricant. Its kinda tough to drain and refill if you aren't going to take the whole cover off and replace the gasket since there is only one drain/fill plug. When i changed my diff fluids i used a small hand pump that pumped old fluid out and new fluid in and it worked well.

dif fluid suggested above are fine, dont forget the friction modifier for the Rear.
Since you just bought, this and don't know it's actual service history. You need to do a SUPER complete service. These things will last forever and bring you back from anywhere if you do the basic maintenance. Start replacing ALL fluids, just so you know their condition. If you plan any lift in the future, replace all of the suspension bushings, TieRod end and Ball joints, this is to help prevent future Death Wobble issues. Check and replace if needed all U-Joints, Shocks, brake pads/shoes, spark plugs and wire, Ditributor cap and rotor, air filter, wheel bearings, radiator cap and Tstat. I know it's allot but you don't have to do it all at once, and it will help avoind future problems and identify current problems.

Hi!
How much friction modifier does the rear axle need?
I have bought Red-line friction modifier (4 oz).
