checked with the local napa on a new crank position senser and they are showing 2 different ones for a 94 with auto trans.....
Shows a different one for the country edition and the SE edition..... anyone run into the before ?

 

Hi, could be because there were 2 motors for that year, a 2.5 and a 4.0?...Tj

 

Showing 2 for the 4.0 in their book.... will ck with the jeep dealer in a bit to see what they say.

 

OK the difference may be a round plug or a square one. I had changed mine in my 94 and they gave me the wrong one at first...Tj

 

just got off phone with dealer...... It is a difference in the plugs.

Per Autozone the flatter plug is for vehicles "With updated OBD2 connector (Option code XCY)" Which is odd it would say this for a 1994 vehicle as OBD2 wasn't until 96. The flat connector they show for the 94 is very similar for the 97-01 plug.

The plugs for the CPS changed at least 4 times over the life of the XJ. 87-90, 91-92, 93-96, and 97-01.
