Default Differant types of tires

I recently had some tire problems, but have been holding out on getting new ones since I wanted to do a lift and would be buying new ones then. I put on two used tires on the front end and they about the tread life as the ones on the back. I put the tires on two weeks ago and only used the 4wd once.

When I used it, I noticed my 4wd acting funny and took it to the shop. Said I need to replace my transfer case and front drive shaft which I am going to be doing. He also said that he was concerned about me having two different types of tires on it. He said even if they have the same tread life that all four should be the same and only purchased new or I could mess up my tranny case. I know he wasn't trying to sell me tires, but was wondering what the Jeep pros thought. Thanks!

with 4wd you want all 4 to match be the same brand and size if not the may bind and lead to more issues

every different style and brand or even size weighs different and can vary even if the same size. My advice would be to get new matching tires.

If the tires are not the same size or really close it will cause horrible things to happen to your transfer case.

My transfer case and front drive shaft need to be replaced anyways. I am thinking of waiting until spring to replace those items, repaint and lift. If I keep the Jeep in 2wd and wait on getting new tires can I mess anything else up besides the t-case and front drive shaft?

Thanks
