Get a '97-'01 rear axle without abs (8.25 29 spline) to lock. I went with the Aussie auto (lunch box) locker, but if ya get the coin got an ARB!

OK thanks. I really didn't want to go with an air locker. Something that would lock itself would be better. I guess I should have said that. Thanks again

Idk tho the auto lockers have a bad rep for locking at the wrong time in the snow...

My auto locker locks fine in the snow. With the rear what you need to be aware of in the snow is that it locks more easily in low traction, as in even just water and especially ice. So if you are pulling out of a parking lot in snow, expect to either drift it or give it some gas and then turn while letting off or only being lightly on the gas.

Stick with the powertrax. You'll like it.

If its a DD ONLY, Dont get a locker unless you have the money for an ARB or OX selectable locker. I DD and wheel with a lunch box locker and it road manners on pavement is not the best. Loud, jerky, harsh, quickly wears tires and a good way to freak out your friends. That never gets old lol. (disclaimer: only had rigs with manual trans and lockers, may be different with auto's)

I would recommend LSD axle. .02

the term auto locker is a little off its more of a auto un-locker as its locked tell one tire starts moving faster than the other. If you apply power to the wheels its locked.

They can be somewhat unpredictable.

Definately don't get an automatic locker for the snow, if you are not driving through dirt roads covered in snow. If you are driving on paved roads with snow, you will slide all over the place if you are not constantly paying careful attention to not apply any torque when you are going around the corner. Stick with LSD.

You could get a selectable locker like ARB, but that will be $1000+ after installing everything and you would only turn it on when you are stuck, not when you are driving at all times.

Auto unlock, auto lock, it's all the same. If it auto unlocks then it has to auto lock also or it would stay unlocked.

It's really not unpredictable if you have driven with it long enough to get used to. Took me about one weekend, it's a pretty simple device so getting used to it is pretty simple

Do you have actual experience with this or are you forwarding BS from someone else who had no experience with it? They unlock pretty easily when you're taking corners like you would find on any road (tight turns like parking lots are different). If you are locking up and sliding around corners you're either driving pretty dumb or the road is really slippery and you would be sliding with an unlocked diff as well. I slid around more in ice before I locked the rear than I do now. I don't blame the extra traction on the locker because that would be ignorant, but it tells me the locker obviously isn't making me slide off the road
