POS died on the way to work today because the roads were wet! Anyone have anything like this happen to theirs? We had a remote start installed, and now it has done this 3 times... still chasing the problem! Anyone else have a remote starter issue on theirs?

ok,,,,,,

see i have same truck and guess what? i posted a thread about batt dying etc etc... and I found out the hard way, (have yet to post on my original thread,,,) i also went through an automated car wash as the hand wash(spray yourself wash places are all closed here due to the big freeze etc etc)... anyways,,,,,,,,,

The lights are grounding out in my case (corrosion etc and as lights are hot on the circuit grounding discharges batt and off she goes.

I found the left sidemarker light socket was totally corroded and even though the light would illuminate, it was shorting to ground....

so now I have to check all the lights for corrosion on the wiring and connectors....yechhhhhhh.

anyway, something you might look at.

(also make sure your distributor is not cracked or what not) as if water gets in there, it will shut off right now.)

hope it helps!

first step is to see if you have spark when it dies. I have heard twice now that if there is a short somewhere in your 02 sensor wiring (under the jeep) that it will make the ASD (auto shutdown relay) kick on. Although both times I have seen that it was a permant shut down till the asd relay was fixed.

I would take a good look for bare wires under the jeep, if you dont find any I would start by covering the computer with a bag or something to seal it up good, and see if the problem continues, that or start the thing up, and spray the computer with water and see if it dies.

If it doesnt die, I would then try the relaybox/fuse center under the hood, then spray the alternator with water and see if that does it, shouldnt be to hard to find, might just take a while. Dont get bummed out, it will most likely be a simple fix.

I would start with the entire connecting system of the remote start. Now I dont know a thing about remote starts or how they are wired but common sense tells me that if this didnt start until after you installed the remote start then it has to have something to do with the remote start. I would trace every wire and inspect them. Now I am sure you have already done that but in my experience so far any thing I do to my jeep that later results in a negative result must be fully investigated. For example, I installed my amp the other day and while sitting at a stop light it started to idle funny. Removed the power wire from the battery and all it well again. So what ever I did wrong in the install caused a problem.

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the responses! Yeah, I was pretty upset when I posted earlier today!

Anyway! I got the truck into the shop today and started spraying EVERYTHING under the motor again, this time I kept going until I killed it. (I had already put new wires on it and inspected the distributor and coil) It turns out I had exposed wires on the crank sensor I could not see until I had the vehicle on the car lift. I put a new crank sensor in it and drove it home no problem, I even stopped at the car wash!

Thanks again guys!
