Default Deciding what to do with my old motor

1990 Xj with 4.0

Motor ran extremely hot and I'm planning to either rebuild or replace it. Was wanting some opinions on the 4.7 stroker build or replacing with another 4.0. I use my Xj as a daily driver but I plan to pull a Pioneer 1000-5 on a 12ft tandem axle trailer with trailer brakes. Wanted the extra power of the 4.7 build if the cost wasn't much more. Thoughts? Other options?

I would just rebuild your engine and then put a Edelbrock Performer Cylinder Head on it . I think it would be cheaper than building a 4.7 but still giving you the extra power I think you are looking for .

There's no replacement for displacement, especially if that displacement comes from a longer stroke. But when you add torque and use it you also add stresses to the entire system so consider that.

Even if you don't buy one from Chad at Golen, he sells you the right parts for a great price.
