Death Wobble!!
So, I'm driving my girlfriends '00 XJ. It has 98k miles, and a death wobble. The wobble used to be REALLY bad, but it's getting better the more parts I replace. lol
First shop: replaced track bar and steering stabilizer
Second shop: nothing is wrong
Third shop: nothing is wrong, try the front wheel/unit bearings
So, I replaced the unit bearings, and that helped immensely. However, it still has death wobbled on me a few times if the road conditions are just right. Usually the steering stabilizer brings it out of the wobble, but that means there is still something wrong. It has been aligned most recently. It has a 2" budget lift, which it has had since new.
Any other ideas? Everyone who has looked at it (including myself has been unable to find anything wrong with it.

It is the lift causing the DW. The drag link and track bar are not on the same plane. Everything on my ZJ was replaced and it still had DW, removed the POS Teraflex 2" spacers and the DW was gone.
If removing the spacers cured your DW, that tells me your caster was out too far. By chance, were you using stock CAs??

Just my $0.02, I had hardcore death wobble above 55 mph. Went and got an alignment and all tires balanced.. No more wobble.. none. I actually caught myself going 85 mph on I-81 yesterday because I wasn't paying attention and thought I was goin 65. And I know.. shame on me.

lca's would do it also on mine i had it(death wobble) pretty bad because i bend my passenger lca wheeling. that threw it off and DW happend.
Oh, I've had the tires balanced twice. Brand new track bar, fresh alignment.
It's not as bad now as it was. It doesn't do it at any certain speed, or even when going over a bump, but a series of small bumps (road cracks) that are just right make it go.
I understand how that little lift doesn't help any, but the tires are a little bigger (29"?) than stock, and won't clear without it.
I know it's been discussed before, but I feel like I've checked all the boxes, and was looking for new expert advice.

The lift was already on when I bought the Jeep and the PO just had it aligned the day before, along with new tie rod ends, steering stabilizer, shocks all the way around, and a new track bar. All of those new parts told me he was trying to rid the Jeep of DW, but it still had it at 55 after sharp bumps. I replaced the upper and lower control arms with new stock parts, still had a slight DW. I replaced the rear lower control arms and the rear track bar bushings with polyurethane bushings, the ZJ felt good, but still had DW. I removed the lift and it feels like a brand new ZJ.
