Inspect all of your front track bar. You will find that it is loose SOMEWHERE. I found where mine was by having a friend push down on the drivers side hood so I could see what was moving.

Willing to bet its the same issue on your GMC.

Death Wobble is 90% of the time the track bar.

LOL, well i know Jeeps, not GMC's...

For the shifter, Get it lined up, and then use a rubber mallet to knock it back in. It pops in on the trany side, so your listening for it to pop on that side.

ok well i found out why my linkage came out of the bracket mounted to the body. apparently i have no bolts holding my trans to the cross member. found that out last night completely by accident.

oooh, not good. I had a re-occurring problem with death wobble at first it was the angle of my front axle was off causing it to shimmy, fixed that then I put on more lift and the wobble came back so I had my wife in the jeep turning the wheel left to right and found that it was the drop down bracket for the track bar had come lose so I tightened it up and also welded it and that fixed my problems FOR NOW! Also check your control arms, wheel hub asembly, ball joints, steering pump (still tight to the frame), alignment, and make sure you wheels are ballenced.

yeah im going today to get new ball joints done. also have a newer gearbox cause my buddy noticed that the shaft coming out for the pitman arm moves around inside the gear box. my alignment probably off cause my axle is shifted over about an inch or so from center for some reason. haha. but i did notice that my tires are not worn funny which is weird.

Your axel is shifted because your factory track bar pulls it that way when you lifted it. You can drill a hole in the track bar bracket on the axel side so that you can move your track bar over a little but the best thing to do is to get an adjustable track bar.

i didnt lift it. i bought it the way it sits. also its got the adjustable track bar installed already which im liking. i might also invest in a set of Sway Bar Quick Disconnects.
