Default Death wobble?

I just got my lift on this week its a 4.5" RC and 33-12.5-15 tires, well last night I took it for a test run around the block, the first time the track bar was loose and I got it into 3rd grear (stick shift) and it was fine, well i tightened up the track bar and took it back out and took off kinda fast, I hit 3rd and let off the gas and the steering wheel started to shake so bad I could hardly hold onto it. I looked and the only thing that seems loose is the upper balljoint, would they cause this to happen or do i have bigger problems?

haha, well man I have learned a LOT in the past 4 weeks og XJ ownership.

and I had all these questions too, but I DID use the search

So here's a freebie.. alignment and new stabilizer if yours is worn.. those 2 things fixed my "death wobble"

jeepin99,

Yeah, definitely check out the forum search feature, bro. There is tons of information on Death Wobble on there. We have all had it at one time or another and there are tons of checks you can do to pin point what the cause is on your Jeep without dropping a lot of cash on unneccesary new parts. If you read through the information from the search and you still have questions definitely feel free to post up your questions on this thread.

when you lift your rig you throw the toe off on your front end causing your front tires to run on the corners of the tread and side wall. if it feels almost like you are in 4wd and if you look at the front end with the wheels straight and your tires look like / \ or \ / than its an alignment. driving like this will cause uneven wear on the tires while the shaking and vibe will fix itself your tires will be eaten. get an alignment asap and rotate those front tires to the rear.
