This sure is a mystery. With a .25 amp draw your battery should not die overnight. Did you try the test, removing IOD overnight? What was the result? Your alternator is good at 14 volts.
I other thing that Im going to test the locks maybe the are sticking. Im going to go over it again, I just run a wire direct to the battery and try that . |

So the theory goes that the older vehicles with alternators and voltage regulators disconnecting the battery was not a problem as the VR could handle the load.
Now, with computer controlled vehicles and VR in the PCM disconnecting the battery could place a damaging load on the computer. So there are warnings not to do this. I just purchased a book on automotive electrics and the warning is there. I am no expert and I do not intend to test the theory. My multimeter and my homemade voltage/continuity tester will work for me. Thanks again for the info |
so far so good.
still the only draw is fromt the radio. I went check everything and found nothing. I removed that fuse IOD. Ran a power from the fuse panel.(turn signal) Still the only draw is .25 from the radio. Ill try again over the weekend. |

Try using a light bulb between the - battery terminal and the - terminal of the battery. It will probably glow pretty bright. Pull fuses till it goes dim and then trace from that fuse. The bulb has to be a higher wattage lamp to eliminate false readings.

okay its all good so far.
i tryed the test light & nothing. i tryed the meter & no draw only the radio memory. i have stilled no plugged in the fuse for the iod. im going to leave that fuse out, it seems to be the issue. something gives me a draw when the vehicle is running with that fuse pulged in. So away it goes never to return. |
You need to check to see what you lose with that fuse pulled. It provides power to a few items. Check you hazard lights, I may be wrong but I believe they work off the IOD.
