i drove thru a huge puddle/mini lake after a big rain on saturday. The jeep almost stalled out before I wheeled out of it.

Now my battery is not being charged. Voltage is at 12.2v and at a high idle voltage doesnt change. Usually its at 14v.

Before I go out and get a new alternator...should I troubleshoot other things?

Any big box auto parts store can test it on the vehicle, I would start there. Good possibility of dead alt. as they are not very fond of water, doesn't help that on the XJ its at the bottom on the bottom.
