Default dash removal need help

Alright yall, i went to remove a switch too fast like an idiot and ripped a nice sized chunk out of my dash, i was wondering if i could remove and replace it. It's the piece of the dash we all rub when our jeep is actin up and you're "sweet talking" it; i just don't see anywhere in my haynes manual on how to remove that, it shows the defroster cowl panel, but i'm assuming that's the piece that always rattles and drives any XJ/MJ driver nuts,

Dash pad, it is difficult to find for the 1996 and earlier. Might want to try the Pick-n-pull or local jeeper. I have never had to remove it. Switches and dash panels are accessed by removing the bezel.

Now I get it, an aftermarket adhesive backed switch that was stuck to dash pad.

It is a pain to remove if you have never removed one. The screws are hard to reach (on top at the base of the windshield). If you miss any you will probably damage it. I would also suggest as Steve and other go to the yard and practice on one to try and find every mounting bolt and screw, That might help you when you remove your. Good luck!

that's probably what i'll do, if i mess up the one in the junkyard who cares but if i mess up mine i'll be kickin myself in the rear, any chance that the 84-96 XJ dashs come out the same way at the 97-01 XJs?

I have practiced many of times in the J-Yard. Ha! Ha! Practice makes perfect. Or it sure helps.
