01 XJ- Replaced a headlight switch that the last bozo put in and he broke the mount- today and even with the new switch (i thought it also would fix this problem) my dash lights are still out. When I turn on the headlights, the radio clock will dim, but when the headlight **** is rotated, even the clock doesn't get brighter. It will click the dome light on but that's it. All else functions correctly. I checked # 16? I think it was,5a fuse, and replaced it anyway, even though it didn't look blown. Just have never had a problem like this. Radio works fine, all else turn signals, gauges work, but no dash lights. Thank you in advance for all help.

 

Check the wires to make sure they are in the right spot. Then pull the cluster and check bulbs.

 

do you have a diagram for where those are located? I have a fused neck so it's hard enough to look under dash, so I need to find it quick, I know I'm asking a lot but I need to know where to go first. Do I have to pull the whole dash? I can't figure out, that if the lights are out, I can understand that, but when the headlight **** is rotated, even the clock doesn't get brighter, I would think that even if dash was out, clock should get brighter. Hope this helps. As for the dash I've not taken mine out yet but i believe its just the face that has to come out to get to cluster.
