my dash lights went out on my cherokee the other day. i can't figure it out. i still have tail lights and they come on sometimes and they are very dim so it can't be a fuse. does anyone have an idea what it could be?

 

What yr is your xj? Could be the harness under the dash where it comes from the main harness to the dash harness. Dunno though my first thought would have been a fuse too, but coming and going dim sounds like something loose to me.

 

it's a 96. the only other time my dash lights have went out is when i was pulling my buddies trailer with my gsxr1000 on it but it had a bare wire and it grounded out and blew the fuse. it done that a couple times though before i fond the wire on the trailer.
