The Dana 35 used both the metal plug and the rubber plug. The metal plug was used on the earlier non c-clip models through 90, and the rubber plug on the c-clip version 91-01.

Thanks winston, I looked under my '99 last night and I got a chry. 8.25, so from what I am reading here that is the better of the 2 ?(dana and chry.)

I got a chry. 8.25, so from what I am reading here that is the better of the 2 ?

haha just kidding but yes the chrysler 8.25 is better than the dana 35

D44 is stronger than the 8.25.
Bigger axles, a little bigger spline count and a bigger ring gear, IIRC

all XJs have a Dana 30 Front from the factory

I thought so, Just wonder about making positive ID to make sure no PO's have made a swap I should or would want to know about.
