Question Dana 60's??????

I am looking at a pair of full width 8 Lug dana 60's to put under her. I did a few searches and didn't find anything on anyone doing this I do not know yet what they come out of but, I will post as soon as I know. by the way they are $300-$350 so it will be a major steal. Does anyone know what i would need to change to put these in and how much the total cost would be. I will try and get a picture of them on here as soon as possible. I do know truck they come out of was 4x4 factory so they will be geared the same!

Thanks very much any and all comments are welcome!

just lots of fabrication. it is definately not a one day job. it is doable for sure though. you just need to relocate the spring perches, shock mounts, etc. good luck, and post some pics as soon as ya can

I haven't seen a lot of Dana 60 tech here on CF, so if I were you I would browse threads here http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=83 and here http://www.naxja.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=123.

I agree. Also if you don't have good fab skills, don't do it

no matter what its a lot of work

rear is fairly easy, spring perches and shock mounts....

the front however is pretty difficult....look at Ballistic Fabrication and TNT for pre-fab coil, shock, and CA mounts

I'd jump on them for that price even if you don't want them just to resell. A front driver drop 60 goes for $1200 if it needs rebuilt in this part of the country (why I used a 44 cause I'm broke). If it came out of a newer truck it will be a lot of fab work because the driver side tube is very short.

duuuuude. that's a lot of heavy moving components. a lot of strain on the motor and tranny.
the rear is just a matter of remeasuring ur original shock and spring mount locations.
now the front..........
wow. where to start?
if it's longer than stock size, your axle is going to stick out. lord knows how far. a good fab shop might be able to measure out all of your mounting tabs and cut up similar tabs and reweld it on the new axle. i would personally put it on a table jig to measure everything. and you will probably have to lift up the jeep quite a bit to clear any possible contact. just make sure you keep the steering gear on the axle.

What's wrong with sticking out a bit. My 35s only have about an inch that's under the fenders. I love the look of full width and the stability is great.

sticking out means extra length and extra strain on steering components. as well as the power steering pump. other than that i would love it for mine.

A 31 inch tire adds strain to the ps pump. Jeep pumps are pretty strong and I haven't noticed any strain on mine yet. Once I get my 37s I'll be going to hydro assist tho just because it's gets to be a chore turning offroad.
