I made sure to buy Timken bearings. The same part numbers that came out for each bearing. If that makes a difference and helps with the alignment of everything?
Before i put the axle in i am wondering if i should do the oil pan gasket and rear main seal before putting everything back together. My question is that i plan on swapping in a 4x4 aw4 in at a later point. Will removing the trans later mess up the rear main seal if i plan to do it now.? I dont want to do the work now then mess it up later when i swap the trans. Any input?
Had a camero got it rebuilt back in 86 for 250. Think my 67 stang back in 90 got rebuilt for about the same price. figured today should be around 400-500?
I can guarantee you never owned a "camero" because there is no such thing! You may have owned a Camaro at some point.
Finally got around to checking the wear pattern on my gears. I didn’t have a torque wrench big enough to be able to do 220 ft pounds for the pinion nut so i just hit it with my Milwaukee impact gun. Idk if that will make a big difference or not. The coast pattern? Underneath looks to be to far back as you can see. How would that be adjusted?
You may be able to run with that. It may be noisy at first, but it should settle down.
Also, you don't want to be tightening and removing the pinion nut too many times, at the threads will get messed up and can then damaged the threads on the pinion. If you have to do it, don't use the impact gun. Just use your hand wrench to make it tight, and be careful not to damage the threads.
Here is a chart that shows you the patterns and how to adjust them:

Thank you that will help, my torque wrench only goes up to 150 so i did that then hit it a little with the impact. I have a new pinion nut to put on once i get the wear pattern correct. I’m just learning since this is my first time.
i don’t have the right tools to check backlash and everything, so i was just doing trial and error until i get it right. Since i just replaced bearings on the used gears i put back all the shims that came from the original stock gear setup. The pinion has 3 shims in it now with this wear pattern.
