Default D35 or 8.25?

Hey guys i have a 91 xj it has a D35 in the rear. I have a parts 93 xj with a 8.25 in it. I have a RC 4.5" lift and i plan to buy some 31" firestone destination m/t's. I think i want to put a aussie locker in the rear. Should i stick with the D35 or switch to the 8.25 c clip axle? What would you guys do?

I HATE my D35, its a PIECE OF CRAP.
If you have teh spare 8.25, put it it. Its a simple swap.

i thought the older model 8.25 only has 27 spline axles which are only marginally stronger than the 35. is it really worth the work?

I was thinking the same thing about keeping it and just change it if it blows. How long do u think it will last with 31's and a locker?

if your gonna spend the money on a locker swap out to the 8.25 first. its not worth locking the D 35 if your just waitin for it to blow up. jus my opinion....

you would think that but if you buy a lunch box style (stronger than the rear end you are putting it in) it wont break before it does. I resale almost everything i buy and dont want anymore to people that dont do stuff like axle swaps. so if you put a locker in a d35 and get 2 years out of it and blow the rear out i bet you can sell in for 2/3s what you bought it for. doesnt sound like a bad invetment to me
