Here's what I know.................
on my vette I used a 36mm socket 1" drive with a short piece of 2x4 and a 5lb. sledge. with short handle.
this drove it in squarely.
am thinking the Cherokee has 32 -34 mm size.
my opinion sir.

Go to http://go.jeep-xj.info/ home page. Im sure he has an excellent write up on how to do it. You dont usually pound em in...you pull em in with threaded rod and big washers.....

I used a piece of pvc through the opposite end of the axle and held a socket against the seal and pounded it in. Works good but takes 2 people
