Default D30 Leaking

ok so my Dana 30 front axle is leaking out of the passenger side. I was told i need to tear down the front axle and replace the inner and outer seals. I was looking on 4wd and i noticed there is a inner axle seal... wondering if this could just be the problem? and if i was going to get the front axle seals replaced could someone make a list of all the things i need.

thanks

the front axle seals are inside the differential. At the outer ends, there is a "mud slinger" attached to the axle shafts. If you are leaking diff fluid, you would need to replace the inner seals. The link previously listed is a dirt seal that is used to replace the mud slinger and keep water out of the axle tubes. It is a good idea, and one I plan on doing to mine.

Any local parts store should keep those on hand.

You will have to remove the axle shafts and carrier to replace the seals. I'm pretty sure that if you replace the bearing caps in the same position and orientation that they were removed, you should not have to worry about re-shimming anything.
