Default D30 Carrier Replacement

I'm 90% certain my front carrier bearings are shot, so I'm looking into what's needed to replace them. I have a full carrier/R&P set in my garage from my old axle. I don't know much about replacing them and would like advice. I know how to remove them, but nothing about shims or backlash/preload..... none of that stuff. What do I need to know to complete this job?

it will be the same as setting a brand new set of gears. perfect time to regear if you have not done so already

I've never set a new gear set before. The most I've done is replace seals, replace shafts, and service the diff.

you will need a dial indicator, in/lb dial torque wrench etc. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/d...riteup-853869/ Check this out.

If you have never done it, it takes alot of time and patience. Remember to make sure the contact pattern coast AND drive are set right or you will blow up R & P
