Yes the carrier is easy pull out and replace with new or put new spider gears in.. Do not pull tge ring or pinion if u r not familiar with it.. They r set in with backlash and it has to be perfect..

There's no need to pull the carrier to swap the side and spider gears.

I am pretty sure u have to pull the carrier to pull the center pin to get the spider gears in and out?? I put a lockrite in my old d30 and had to pull it to pull the spider gears and replace with locker.. It was simple tho.. Just make sure it goes in how it came out

No you don't.
A Dremel with a 60 grit sanding drum applied to 1 or 2 teeth on the ring gear and the pin is easily removed.

Very common, very easy.

Why would you fool with back lash ?

You keep your bearings and shims on the side they came out/off of reassemble the same way why would you need to set back lash ?
If you remove the pinion nut say to replace a pinion seal you must check drag , if you replace a bearing you effectively have changed your pinion depth Then you would want to check back lash.

Did you bother reading what he wrote (I highlighted in blue for you) or what I posted in response?

He stated what he had heard swapping out the carrier AND gears was easy, I explained why it's not as simple as what he had heard.

There were no assumptions made.

This is what I was referring to I stated you don't need to set back lash if replacing spider gears . You retorted yes he did !

Dude, look at the time you posted and the time I posted.

My reply wasn't directed at you.

If he is swapping out the gears he needs to do a lot more than just set the backlash.

If he's just replacing side/spider gears he obviously does not.
