cylinder head interchangeability?
I have a 96 cherokee classic 4.0. I was wondering if the 99 cherokee se 4.0 at the local junk yard has the same cylinder head. I am going to replace it as well as the head gasket and don't wanna have to stop during the job to go get my head machined.

I believe they use the same alignment dowels in the block after 95. As long as it isn't the 0331 head.

All 4.0 high output head interchange.
The only issue is mounting the coil pack from the 99.5-2001 Cherokee. Retrofitting there is no problems.

that is incorrect. it was either in 95 or 96 they started using alignment pins, dowels sticking up out of the block. The older heads don't have the holes for them.
