After having completed the install of a 6inch lift in my XJ, the Transport Agency responsible for Certifying modified vehicles in this fine county has decided that the steering linkage (drag link bar) angle is too steep, (new pitman arm also fitted) and believes that the steering will be prone to "failure" under normal conditions.
Once this decision is made, there is NO point arguing with these people, so a fix is now required.
I am considering a 'ball joint flip', however this will reduce the angle by only a small amount.
A second option (and more costly option) is discarding the original steering link bars/ball joints altogether, and replacing with custom link bar/s and rod ends. This will eliminate the 'sissor action' of the original draglink bar set-up.
I have seen a pic of an XJ with this mod completed (on this site) a while back but cannot find it - can anybody assist with 'pics', 'how to's' regarding this??
