edit: nvm i think i found out that i have a 27 spline from http://jeephorizons.com/tech/xjstockspecs.html can somebody please tell me if that is correct

hmmmmm is there a performance difference with the 29 spline or something (sorry im clueless when it comes to differentials) because that lockright locker seems to be good enough for what i want to do.

I just sold my '92 4.0 5 speed 2wd, but I sure loved driving it. With 3.5" lift and 31" tires it looked great, and also got great gas mileage (for what it was). I considered a 4wd conversion for a little while but here in FL I just didn't need it. My plans were to get an axle from an automatic with the 3.55 gears, add an OX locker or E-locker, and have fun. I considered going to a 8.25 for a while but decided I'd be fine with the D35 since I would never be doing larger tires or hard wheeling. Have fun with it, they're a lot more capable and useful than some guys in off-roading forums give them credit for!

29 spline chryco 8.25 axle shafts are stronger, but for your application the 27 spline will be fine. lock the rear and have fun!!!
